It is a 12 man Yahoo League, 5x5, roto. I drafted in the 11th position out of 12.

1. Carl Crawford (OF) .305 BA, 18 HR, 89 R, 77 RBI, 58 SB

2. Carlos Zambrano (SP) 16 wins, 3.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 210 K's

3. Victor Martinez (C,1B) .316 BA, 16 HR, 82 R, 93 RBI, 0 SB

4. Bill Hall (3B,SS) .270 BA, 35 HR, 101 R, 85 RBI, 8 SB

5. Brandon Phillips (2B) .276 BA, 17 HR, 65 R, 75 RBI, 25 SB

6. Chipper Jones (3B) .324 BA, 26 HR, 87 R, 86 RBI, 6 SB

7. Delmon Young (OF) .317 BA, 3 HR, 16 R, 10 RBI, 2 SB (limited playing time stats in 2006 for Delmon Young)

8. Dontrelle Willis (SP) 12 wins, 3.87 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 160 K's

9. Justin Verlander (SP) 17 wins, 3.63 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 124 K's

10. Chad Cordero (RP) 7 wins, 3.19 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 69 K's, 29 SV

11. Orlando Cabrera (SS) .282 BA, 9 HR, 95 R, 72 RBI, 27 SB

12. Bob Wickman (RP) 1 win, 2.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 42 K's 33 SV

13. Micheal Cuddyer (1B,OF) .284 BA, 24 HR, 102 R, 109 RBI, 6 SB

14. Curtis Granderson (OF) .260 BA, 19 HR, 90 R, 68 RBI, 8 SB

15. Joe Borowski (RP) 3 wins, 3.75 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 64 K's, 36 SV

16. Russell Martin (C) .282 BA, 10 HR, 65 R, 65 RBI, 10 SB

17. Craig Monroe (OF) .255 BA, 28 HR, 89 R, 92 RBI, 2 SB

18. Dave Bush (SP) 12 wins, 4.41 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 166 K's

19. Kevin Youkilis (1B,3B,OF) .279 BA, 13 HR, 100 R, 72 RBI,
5 SB

20. Yuniesky Betancourt (SS) .289 BA, 8 HR, 68 R, 47 RBI, 11 SB

21. Jose Lopez (2B) .282 BA, 10 HR, 78 R, 79 RBI, 5 SB

I think I did okay but not great. I think I'm pretty good with batting average, runs, & RBI's. Power is average, but not bad. I should be pretty solid in the stolen base department.

I have 3 solid SP's & another SP who could be good. Strikeouts are solid. ERA isn't bad, but not great. I really like my WHIP. Wins should be decent. Saves should be decent.

I have some flexibility. Victor Martinez can play catcher or 1B. Bill Hall could play SS or 3B. Unfortunately I drafted him thinking he was also eligible to play in the outfield. I messed up there. I think Micheal Cuddyer was a steal in round 13, given his 1B & outfield eligibility. Kevin Youkilis was also a steal in the 19th round given that he is eligible at 3 positions(1B,3B,& OF).

catchers: Victor Martinez, Russell Martin
1st base: Victor Martinez, Micheal Cuddyer, Kevin Youkilis

2nd base: Brandon Phillips, Jose Lopez
3rd base: Chipper Jones, Bill Hall, Kevin Youkilis
shortstop: Orlando Cabrera, Bill Hall, Yuniesky Betancourt
outfield: Carl Crawford, Delmon Young, Micheal Cuddyer, Curtis Granderson, Craig Monroe, Kevin Youkilis

utility: anyone listed above

starting pitchers: Carlos Zambrano, Dontrelle Willis, Justin Verlander, Dave Bush

relief pitchers: Chad Cordero, Bob Wickman, Joe Borowski

Any opinions, good or bad?

11th position out of 12, it was pretty wise to grab Zambrano in the second round. You know how I feel about Crawford. I would like to see who came AFTER him in the draft. If you chose Crawford over, say an Utley, Jason Bay, Matt Holliday, or Mark Teixiera, it was a big mistake in my opinion.

Cuddyer that late is your best pick and potentially the steal of the draft.

You have some MAJOR power issues, as I am sure you are aware. That is bound to happen with you pick 11 of 12.

Pitching is really going to be a problem, too.

Personally, I think I would try and do these things... trade Victor Martinez and a junk pitcher/junk outfielder for a stud pitcher/stud OF and an average/junk catcher. Russ Martin will be very servicable for you. Dump the new catcher and monitor the free agent wires for a new closer, surprising pitcher, or surprising power hitting OF.

Also, pray that Chipper Jones gets 550 ABs.

Without seeing the other teams, I think you have some tough times ahead, but I would be extremely happy for you to prove me wrong!

Thanks for your analysis Rob. I believe only 1 of those 4 were still available when it came around to my first pick & I believe it was Teixeira. I'm still high on Crawford though. I believe he will hit .300, score 90 to 100 plus runs, drive in a hundred, hit 20 to 25 homeruns & steal 50 plus bases. I really tried to concentrate on speed & stolen bases a bit too much, which may have hurt me in some other areas. I also waited too long to get a SS. Cabrera is not what I had in mind, although he does provide some in the stolen base category. I like Brandon Phillips at second base. He hits in Cincinnati & he also provides in the stolen base category. Even Russell Martin stole a decent number of bases for a catcher. In the power area, I'm banking on Victor Martinez, Chipper Jones, Micheal Cuddyer, Bill Hall, & Delmon Young.

Needless to say, I hope I do better in the Beat The Geeks draft.

Thanks for the advice!
